No Plans for Valentine’s Day? Learn to Love Problems, Says hypios
No Plans for Valentine’s Day? Learn to Love Problems, Says hypios
New York, NY (PRWEB) February 12, 2010
On February 14th, online problem-solving platform hypios launches “A Problem to Love,” its annual $ 50,000 challenge. Entrants from any discipline and research function—presently employed by an organization, public or private—are invited to submit especially difficult or abandoned research problems to hypios, with the option of maintaining anonymity. Once submissions are open, users worldwide will vote on the most compelling problems submitted.
The two top problems will be judged by structure and promise of impact, then posted on hypios.com for a Solver prize totaling $ 50,000.
“We put our heads together to consider what the ideal gift would be to problem-solvers for Valentine’s Day. And then it hit us: what about two fewer problems in the world?” explained Oussama Ammar, Founder and President of hypios. “‘A Problem to Love’ embodies every problem’s quest for the perfect solution.”
The top two problems chosen after voting shall include one selected by a jury, worth $ 30,000 to whomever solves it; and one selected by the public, for an award of $ 20,000 to the Solver. In the event that the problems are solved, the enterprise that posted the problem receives all intellectual property rights to Solvers’ solutions.
“Research is a social — I’d say even intimate — activity. And to be able to share with others what’s stumped you, and take part in their research processes in an open and positive way, is in some ways a nicer gift than your standard flowers and chocolates,” added Klaus-Peter Speidel, Co-Founder and VP Communications.
hypios hopes the competition will motivate people to share knowledge while discovering the advantage it offers to researchers, engineers and scientists: that of uniting problems to a custom-tailored solution, which may, like love, come from an unexpected place.
Submissions and votes are welcome on hypios.com starting Febuary 14th. The winners will be announced on April 14th.
hypios supports innovation by organizing online competitions to solve tough R&D problems. Users of its platform, dubbed “Solvers,” hail from over 120 countries.

Hey, just looking around some blogs, seems a pretty nice platform you are using. I’m currently using WordPress for a few of my sites but looking to change one of them over to a platform similar to yours as a trial run. Anything in particular you would recommend about it?
