International Food Protection Training Institute (IFPTI) Commends President Obama and Congress for Enacting Food Safety Legislation

Battle Creek, MI (Vocus/PRWEB) January 07, 2011

The International Food Protection Training Institute (IFPTI), the leader in delivering career-spanning, standards-based food protection training to state and local food protection officials, applauds the passing of the Food Safety Modernization Act.

The bill greatly increases the U. S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) ability to protect the food supply. Working with FDA, IFPTI is building the training infrastructure for the national integrated food safety system. To date, IFPTI has trained more than 1,100 food protection professionals from 47 states.

“Protecting the public’s health through better training is the most cost-effective use of limited resources in these tight budgetary times,” said Gerald Wojtala, Executive Director of IFPTI. “This new law reinforces that training programs like those delivered at IFPTI are essential to ensuring that state and local agencies have the capacity and competencies they need to fulfill their vital role in protecting the nation’s food supply.”
