Tampa Bay, FL, USA (PRWEB) May 15, 2012

Who wouldn’t want to look younger in less than an hour with no knives, needles, pain, or dangerous drugs? Evidently, lots of people! According to Liberty Health Network (LHN) many Day Spas are finding more customers wanting to turn back time. Many Spas are now offering LHN’s products as part of their package offerings.

“We’ve heard from many spa owners who want to purchase Beau Visage products for resale. To accommodate the requests, we are proud to announce that wholesale 10-packs of our best selling Beau Visage Non Surgical Facelift Mask are now available on Amazon.Com. We now offer single, double, three, and ten packs of our Facelift Mask online.” Says LHN Chief Operating Officer Russell Bly.

Looking younger quickly is the is the result all Beau Visage products are geared toward. The Beau Visage Facelift Mask is an Aloe-Based Facial that gently softens skin, improves skin tone, diminishes wrinkles, and lightens blemishes. Although the product shows results virtually immediately, continued use brings added results.

“It’s a great income stream for the Spa. Esthetician-applied masks are being priced in the $ 90 to $ 150 range by Spas.” Say’s LHN Chief Financial Officer Tracy Grevert. “A ten-pack of the Facelift Without Surgery product is enough material for 30 to 60 treatments when properly applied. That’s up to $ 9,000 in revenue for the Spa” Said Grevert.

Of course, single “Facelift in a Bottle” units are available on Amazon.Com through Amazon’s Fulfilled By Amazon (FBA) program. The FBA program allows Amazon Prime customers special perks such as second day or free shipping. The company says that while only the single untit Beau Visage Non Surgical Facelift is available through FBA, The Beau Visage Toner, Facial Cleanser, and Anti Aging Moisturizer can all be purchased traditionally from Amazon

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) May 14, 2012

Tobacco users who want to quit are encouraged to call 1-866-QUIT-4-LIFE (1-866-784-8454) on Thursday, May 31, 2012 to help set a new record for the number of tobacco users receiving support from the Quit For Life® Program in a single day. The record-breaking attempt is part of Alere Wellbeing’s push to support World No Tobacco Day, sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Established by the World Health Organization in 1987, World No Tobacco Day is celebrated every May 31 as an annual recognition of global efforts against tobacco use. The theme of World No Tobacco Day 2012 is “tobacco industry interference.” WHO is urging countries to put the fight against the tobacco industry at the heart of its efforts to control the global tobacco epidemic. In response, Alere Wellbeing has committed to helping at least 3,000 of the tobacco industry’s customers get one step closer to overcoming their deadly addiction for good.

“Alere Wellbeing joins the World Health Organization as a leader in the global movement for tobacco freedom for all,” said Ken Wassum, Associate Director of Clinical Development and Support for Alere Wellbeing. “The tobacco industry has increased its efforts to both confound and delay tobacco control in the United States and to sell its deadly products abroad. It continues to aggressively challenge the FDA in the implementation of evidence-based initiatives by the Center for Tobacco Products, including the adoption of pictorial health warnings on cigarette packaging. As the nation’s largest provider of tobacco quitline services, Alere Wellbeing is committed to promoting barrier-free access to evidence-based tobacco cessation care.”

“Alere Wellbeing has already helped more than 235,000 tobacco users in this year alone,” said Sandy Becker, President of Alere Wellbeing. “To celebrate our ongoing commitment to tobacco cessation and in recognition of World No Tobacco Day, we are challenging ourselves to conduct more than 3,000 live interventions on May 31. In over 25 years of helping tobacco users, this will be a record number for us.”

Tobacco use is one of the leading preventable causes of death globally, and is the number one cause of preventable death and disease in the United States. The global tobacco epidemic kills nearly 6 million people each year, more than 600,000 of whom are exposed to secondhand smoke. Unless countermeasures are enacted, tobacco use will kill up to 8 million people per year by 2030, according to the World Health Organization.

Gulfport, Mississippi (PRWEB) May 10, 2012

Compass Imaging in Mississippi announces that they will be working with the American Cancer Society to raise money for uninsured women to receive free mammogram screenings in October 2012.

By sponsoring the Memorial Tent at the upcoming American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, Compass Imaging will be a part of the great work promoting breast cancer education and early detection by being a part of the support programs built for cancer patients, survivors and their families. The Compass Imaging team will be working at the “In Honor & Memory” sponsorship tent and will be speaking at the Corporate Breakfast and Event during the opening ceremonies.

Marketing Representative, Tony Giardina comments saying, “We were beyond excited when the American Cancer Society approached us with this opportunity, we value all of our patients, especially our women’s imaging patients, having the opportunity to help women in need of our services is going to be beyond rewarding. We hope to raise enough money so that we can help all of the local women in need.”

The main focus of Compass Imaging’s partnership with the American Cancer Society’s event, will be to recruit participants and build involvement while raising money to be donated to uninsured women in need of mammograms. With over 211,240 women in the U.S. being diagnosed with breast cancer each year, Compass Imaging knows that early detection is key to treatment, survival and a cure.

Dr. David Lawton has been named the new director of the Master of Public Health program at Concordia University, Nebraska.
Dr. Lawton has 38 years of experience in health care. Prior to coming to Concordia, he worked for the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) to help implement electronic health records (EHR) in the United States. He was also the public health informatics manager for the State of Nebraska, where he served on numerous local and national committees to improve public health and consumer health and was appointed by the governor to serve on the eHealth Council of Nebraska.

Among his many degrees are a bachelor’s in psychology and a master’s in nursing administration. His doctorate is in higher education, curriculum and instruction.

Dr. Lawton’s combined expertise in public health and education and his prestige as a leader in health care technology are a boon to Concordia and its students. His background in health care technology, patient services and management makes him uniquely suited to prepare students for the many challenges facing public health professionals in the years to come.

The online Master of Public Health at Concordia teaches students to help others by providing greater access to health care, beneficial policies and legislation and health education programs.
Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) May 03, 2012

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) encourages the public to make this Cinco de Mayo celebration a “Citrus de Mayo” affair by celebrating citrus’ role in the holiday’s food and culture—while also raising awareness of the serious threat that citrus diseases like citrus greening pose to United States citrus.

From the limes and oranges we use to marinate the carne asada, and the lime we squeeze over our guacamole and tacos to bring out the flavor, to the delicious margaritas and the lime wedges with which we top an ice-cold beer, citrus is at the center of this festive event.

“Cinco de Mayo is just not the same without citrus,” says Larry Hawkins, APHIS spokesman for the Save Our Citrus program. “With multiple diseases affecting our citrus and the recent confirmation of citrus greening disease in California, our access to U.S.-grown citrus is under serious threat, and with it, many of the foods and festivities we enjoy.”

Citrus greening, also known as Huanglongbing or HLB, is one of the most serious citrus plant diseases in the world. Once a tree is infected, there is no known cure. Some citrus producing states like California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Texas, have areas under quarantine for citrus greening disease. Named for the green, misshapen fruit and bitter taste it produces, citrus greening disease has now ruined millions of citrus plants in the southeastern United States. The first case of citrus greening in California was confirmed on March 30, 2012.

“We encourage everyone to go out and celebrate a ‘Citrus de Mayo,’” says Hawkins. “But as they’re doing so, we encourage them to think about the importance of citrus and, more importantly, to be sure not to move citrus or citrus plants from areas that are under quarantine.”

To learn more about the USDA’s Save Our Citrus program or to report suspected citrus disease, visit http://www.saveourcitrus.org. Citizens can assist in Save Our Citrus efforts by observing quarantine restrictions and refraining from taking or sending citrus fruit, trees, leaves or any part of their trees away from where they are grown. A new detection tool, the Save Our Citrus free iPhone app, enables residents to identify and report citrus diseases.

About Save Our Citrus:

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) recently launched an updated Save Our Citrus program. Its goal is to inform the nation about the problem and empower regular people to take easy steps that will make a lasting difference in the fight against citrus disease. The website includes extensive information about each citrus disease, as well as map detailing affected areas, citrus safety tips, links to additional resources, and information about the need to quarantine certain fruit and plants. CLC is the leading membership association supporting child life specialists, a group of professionals who help children and families to master challenging health care experiences through play, preparation, and emotional support.

The keynote address will be given by Steve Gross, MSW, Chief Playmaker of the Life is good Kids Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that uses play to strengthen and heal children whose lives have been deeply impacted by trauma. Dr. Jeni Stepanek, award-winning author of the bestselling book “Messenger: The Legacy of Mattie J.T. Stepanek and Heartsongs,” will deliver the closing keynote address.

More than 1,000 CLC members and friends will assemble for the 30th Annual Conference on Professional Issues. In addition to offering valuable networking and educational opportunities, CLC will invite attendees to commemorate A Monumental Year, A Monumental Profession with a variety of special activities and observances in honor of the organization’s 30th Anniversary. The conference will include more than 50 educational sessions, including plenary presentations, workshops and intensives, on topics ranging from practical hands-on techniques to the latest developments in child life research and theory. The conference exhibit hall will feature more than 50 participating companies and nonprofit organizations offering a variety of products and services that support the work child life specialists do each day. Attendees also will have the opportunity to take tours of local area child life programs at Children’s National Medical Center, Inova Fairfax Children’s Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Children’s Center.

At the opening general session on Friday, in honor of the organization’s 30th anniversary, CLC will debut a special video highlighting the history and progress of the profession. Gail Klayman, MEd, CCLS, of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center will be presented the Mary Barkey Clinical Excellence Award, and Janet Cross, MEd, CCLS of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt will receive the 2012 CLC Distinguished Service Award.

Throughout the event, there also will be a variety of opportunities to network with peers from the international child life community, as CLC welcomes child life specialists and related professionals from other nations. Among the international attendees will be three individuals who were awarded with special conference scholarships covering their registration and travel expenses. The scholarship recipients were selected by the CLC Board of Directors because they are in a position to promote the use of child life practice and principles in their respective countries of Romania, Australia, and South Africa.

Child life specialists help children and families cope with stressful experiences in hospitals and other settings. They support the optimum development of each child by providing opportunities for play, education and self-expression. They promote quality psychosocial care by providing age appropriate preparation for medical procedures, pain management and coping strategies, and self-expression activities. Child life specialists provide information and emotional support for families, and are an integral part of the health care team, typically working closely with doctors, nurses, social workers, and teachers, among others.

The Local Conference Planning committee is comprised of child life specialists from many DC Metro area hospitals and organizations, including: Children’s National Medical Center; Child Trends; Georgetown University Hospital; Holy Cross Hospital (Silver Spring, MD); HSC Pediatric Center; Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children; Inova Loudoun Hospital; Kennedy Krieger Institute; The Johns Hopkins Children’s Center; and the University of Maryland Children’s Hospital.

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) September 12, 2006 -–

Since the launch of its revolutionary FreedomAD line of hearing aids less than a month ago, America Hears, a leading manufacturer and vendor of digital hearing aids, has experienced an increase in sales and an outpouring of positive customer feedback. According to America Hears President Henry Smith, sales have shown an increase of 40 percent since the product launch, and sales of the FreedomAD hearing aid line have made up 95 percent of the company’s sales overall.

“Never in my 37 years in the hearing aid industry have I witnessed such reactions from clients experiencing new hearing aids for the first time,” says Smith. “I am extremely proud that my company has been able to garner such an overwhelmingly positive and powerful response from our customers with this exciting new product in such a short amount of time.”

Customers have been raving about the new FreedomAD line from the start. James McAndrew, the Chief of Police in Bristol Township, Pennsylvania, says, “[The FreedomAD hearing aids] enable me to hear sounds and voices like never before and the background noise is very minimal and most times does not interfere with normal conversation. They are far and above any hearing aid I have ever had.” He adds,

“Thank you for recommending the Freedom AD CIC Hearing Aids. I certainly would recommend them and America Hears to anyone who has a hearing problem.”

Below is an additional sampling of what customers are saying about this revolutionary product.

“For the first time, everything around me sounds normal…Street noise is pleasant and road noise in the car just fades away. I can hear the things I want to hear and ignore the others.” “The changes…are now monumental.” “I definitely understand my world better with the FreedomAD hearing aids.” “I have now used the FreedomADs in a great diversity of environments and they have been outstanding… better than outstanding!… The sound is totally natural. I have never had this kind of natural sound from a hearing aid before…To say I am impressed with ADRO is an understatement.” “I put my aids on in the morning like I do my glasses and just forget about them… They adjust to every listening situation that I experience. It’s amazing.”

The America Hears FreedomAD product line includes behind the ear, custom, and micro thin tube, open fit aids, which are nearly invisible with no occlusion. The hearing aids in this line incorporate ADRO (adaptive dynamic range optimization) technology, which is the world’s first wide dynamic range optimizer. FreedomAD hearing aids utilize a powerful 32 channel digital sound processor that employs patented ultra low digital delay technology and offers an adaptive noise-reducing twin directional microphone system.

New Orleans, LA (PRWEB) May 04, 2012

One year ago, an idea was born to turn an upright piano damaged by Hurricane Katrina into something magnificent and valuable by having the keys signed by local, legendary musicians. That idea has morphed into an historic and captivating piece of art, thanks in no small part to countless volunteers and world-renowned artist Stephan Wanger. The Louisiana Legends Art Piano features 88 keys that have been signed by musicians with great love for Louisiana, including Fats Domino, Bonnie Raitt, Irma Thomas, Harry Connick, Jr., Chubby Carrier, Dr. John, Donald Harrison Jr, Trombone Shorty, and countless more.

“The incredible accomplishments by over 30 Grammy award winning musicians that signed the keys was a humbling and nerve wrecking experience, and weighted heavily on me when I was thinking about the design for the Piano,” said Stephan Wanger, a German born mosaic artist living in New Orleans. Wanger added that, “My theme for the work is – stars inspiring youth – and the choice of a classical midnight blue in order not to distract from the signed keys.”

Stephan Wanger, whose chosen medium is recycled Mardi Gras beads, has adorned the piano in beads creating a beautiful and intricate mosaic. The piano is not a working instrument, but rather a collectible art piece. However, each component of the piano can be removed without damaging the art work should the winner choose to restore the piano to its original musical capacity. Included with the piano is a book that lists every artist that signed the keys with a short biography of each one.

Instruments A Comin’ (IAC) is Tipitina’s Foundation’s annual benefit concert and auctions featuring the best of New Orleans’ music, food, and art. The goal of the IAC program is to increase youth participation in the Greater New Orleans area school and after school music programs by providing high quality instruments. IAC is an ongoing program now in its eleventh year and has purchased $ 2.5 million dollars worth of instruments for over 4,000 students in more than 75 schools. 100% of the proceeds from the benefit and from the Louisiana Legends Art Piano goes toward buying instruments for the schools and after-school programs.

About Stephán Wanger, Artist

Stephan Wanger is a self-taught artist who channels his creative energy into assembling dazzling mosaics using recycled Mardi Gras beads. Working in a photo-realistic style, Mr. Wanger re-creates scenes, images, and icons of Louisiana to help bring awareness to the world of the innate beauty and wonder of the state’s unique culture and varied communities.

Through his experiences traveling the world, Mr. Wanger has gained insight and influence from the Spanish Art Nouveau designs of Antoni Gaudi, the Moorish and Persian architectural details in Istanbul, Turkey, and the the sculpture and environmental art of Chicago artist and friend John David Mooney. These designs and images have translated to his work in pattern, design and fine detail. Though Mr. Wanger is not formally trained as an artist, he engages in a craft that speaks to fine art, borrowing the ideals of Post-Impresssionistic Pointillism and emulating the style and scale of Roy Lichtenstein’s Pop-Art works. By approaching each piece with superior craftsmanship, Mr. Wanger has elevated what might be considered kitsch because of the whimsical materials he uses, and brings a level of “high art” to his craft.

In preparation for the formal construction of each piece, beads are meticulously sorted by size down to the exact millimeter and perfect shade, creating a detailed and varied palette much like a painter would for painting. The resulting play of light and color recalls several Post-Impressionistic artists’ works while adding a new dimension of glitter and shine through the use of metallic, plastic and luminescent beads. The illusion of three-dimensional space is often created through the use of perspective but also the variety of sizes of the beads he uses to create actual dimension add an element of bas-relief. The finished works are stunning to regard both from distance and upon close inspection of his fine craftsmanship.

In January of 2012 – Stephan Wanger completed a Guinness World Record for the World’s largest mosaic called “Sanctuary of Alegria” a 8′ x 30′ large mural that depicts the skyline of New Orleans.

Part of Mr. Wanger’s goal is in using recycled materials for his pieces. Not only does he collect discarded beads throughout Mardi Gras in an effort to clean post-parade debris, but also, he regularly visits salvage yards to gather additional materials for his work. Through his art, Mr. Wanger hopes to inspire the citizens of Louisiana to recycle and to create, and the the rest of the world to appreciate and gain fondness for the unique culture and natural beauty that Louisiana has to offer. The exhibit is called “A Million Greetings from New Orleans.”

Mr. Wanger’s mosaics works can be seen at Galeria Alegria at 1924 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70130, or online at http://www.galeriaalegria.com.

Washington, DC (Vocus) January 27, 2010

Community oncologists nationwide, under the support and leadership of the Community Oncology Alliance (COA), launched a national petition to urge President Obama and lawmakers to reverse drastic cuts in reimbursement for cancer care implemented by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on January 1, 2010 and compounding through 2013.

The Stop Cancer Care Cuts Petition (http://www.communityoncology.org/coa-petition ) seeks to prevent a series of severe Medicare cuts that the organization predicts will dismantle the U.S. cancer care delivery system. The petition, which has already reached 15,000 signatures, will be delivered to President Obama and the 111th Congress.

“These cuts, as they are planned, will decrease reimbursements far beyond what the U.S. cancer care delivery system — and most patients — can bear,” said Patrick Cobb, M.D., president of COA and managing partner of Hematology-Oncology Center of the Northern Rockies in Billings, Montana.

Medicare has already severely cut payments for cancer care — more than 25% since 2004 for the administration of life-saving cancer drugs alone — which has affected doctors’ ability to treat patients. Starting this month Medicare has cut payments for the drug administration of life-saving cancer drugs further by 5%, and will continue to make additional cuts every year through 2013; these payments will be cut by close to 20%. Payment cuts are also being made to imaging tests — such as PET and CT scans — that help find and manage cancer.

In addition to oncology-specific cuts, there will be a 21% payment cut for all physicians’ services starting in March 2010 if Congress does not act quickly to stop it.

“Absorbing more payment cuts is not sustainable, especially as the cost of treating cancer continues to rise,” commented Dr. Patrick J. Cobb. “Everyone concerned about the future of cancer care in this country should sign this petition. That includes members of the cancer care delivery team, cancer patients, caregivers, and survivors. We must convince our elected leaders of the urgent need to stop cuts to cancer clinics.”

Community cancer clinics, which treat 84% of all U.S. cancer patients, cannot continue to operate when their costs are greater than revenues. In response to these cuts, some clinics have already closed; others have been forced to reduce staff and send patients elsewhere for treatment.

“Virtually every medical specialty is weighing in on health care reform and the increasing number of obstacles providers face in delivering care,” said Ted Okon, executive director of COA. “Given that the U.S. has the best cancer care system in the world, we should be building on our success in increasing the survival for Americans battling cancer.”

About Community Oncology Alliance (COA)

COA is a non-profit organization dedicated solely to community oncology. COA was founded by community oncology to advocate for patients and providers in the community oncology setting, where 84 percent of Americans with cancer are treated. In only six years of existence, COA has mobilized community oncology to become more politically active, and increased awareness on Capitol Hill about the community cancer care delivery system. Additionally, COA has brought together community oncology practices from across the country to share information in order to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the cancer care they provide to their patients.

Currently, COA is working with the Congress in providing proactive solutions designed to protect the viability of the nation’s cancer care delivery system and patients’ access to quality, affordable cancer care. The cancer death rate in the U.S. has declined due to earlier detection, the quality of treatment, and the accessibility of cancer care. However, according to the American Cancer Society, men still have an approximately one in two lifetime risk of developing cancer, with a risk of one in three for women.
